We all know one of Kentucky’s most historic distilleries by name, Woodford Reserve. This distillery has long threads of rich history that date all the way back to 1812. Their distilling method of using sour mash in the fermentation process is one of the many unique tones that make this liquid gold one of a kind. Not to mention, they use locally grown corn from Shelby County, KY.

Fun Fact: Woodford Reserve has been declared the official bourbon of the Kentucky Derby. It’s used in the ever-famous cocktail, the Mint Julep – which are known as a staple on Derby Day. You can find one just about anywhere inside the gates of Churchill Downs and they are delicious as they sound.

The distillery is truly a feast of the eyes, as it is sets among the bluegrass and thoroughbred farms in Versailles, KY. To see the distillery for yourself, schedule a tour with us and we’ll help plan your trip on the Bourbon Barrel Tours.
